What Is a Soy Roof Treatment?
Asphalt shingles are held together by oils. Over the years, sun and weather dry those oils out. That’s when shingles start to fade, get stiff, and drop the granules that protect them.
A soy roof treatment puts oil back into the shingles. We use SoyFuze, a soy-based roof rejuvenation treatment made for asphalt shingles. It’s sprayed on and soaks into the asphalt rather than sitting on top like a paint or coating.
The result: shingles that are more flexible, hold their granules longer, and get back a deeper, more even color.

Is Your Lancaster County Roof a Good Candidate?
Rejuvenation is for roofs that are getting old but are still sound. Walk around your house and look up. Your roof may qualify if you see:
- Faded or chalky shingles that have lost their original color.
- Granules in the gutters or a gritty pile at the bottom of your downspouts.
- Stiff, dry-looking shingle edges.
- A roof that’s roughly 8 to 20 years old that you’d rather keep than replace right now.
When it’s not a fit: Rejuvenation doesn’t fix leaks, replace missing shingles, or repair flashing, pipe boots, or sealants. Those repairs come first. And if your roof is past the point where treatment makes sense, we’ll tell you straight. We treat asphalt shingle roofs only, including architectural shingles. We don’t treat metal or tile roofs.
Clean First, Then Treat
A lot of roofs we look at have two different problems: black streaks or algae on the surface, and dried-out shingles underneath. They’re not the same thing, and they’re not fixed the same way.
- Roof cleaning removes algae, black streaks, and moss from the surface.
- Roof rejuvenation puts oils back into the shingles themselves.
The soy treatment has to go on a clean, dry roof. A soft wash isn’t always needed. When we do recommend one (for example, heavy algae, black streaks, or moss), it’s priced separately. We never pressure wash shingles, because high pressure can strip granules and shorten your roof’s life.

Our Process, Start to Finish
- Free estimate. We come out to your Lancaster County home and check your roof’s age, condition, and shingle type. We note any repairs that need to happen first.
- Repairs and cleaning, only if needed. Leaks, missing shingles, or damaged flashing get fixed first. If the roof needs a soft wash, we’ll tell you and price it separately.
- Protect the details. We cover or spray around pipe boots, caulk, roof cement, and skylights.
- Apply the treatment. One even coat of soy treatment over clean, dry shingles. It goes on milky white and soaks in.
- Walk-through. We go over the job with you, explain what to expect as the treatment absorbs, and let you know when your roof may be ready for its next treatment.
Rejuvenate or Replace? How We Think About Cost
A new roof is one of the biggest checks a homeowner ever writes. If your shingles are aging but still sound, rejuvenation lets you put that off.
- A fraction of the cost of replacement. You’re treating the roof you already have, not tearing it off.
- About 5 more years per treatment, and a roof can be treated up to three times over its life. Starting while your shingles are still in decent shape gets you the most added years.
- No tear-off. No dumpster in the driveway and no days of hammering.
- Less landfill waste. Your old shingles stay on the roof and in service, and the treatment is made from renewable soybean oil.
What will it cost for your house? That depends on your roof’s size, pitch, and condition, and whether any repairs or cleaning are needed first. That’s why we don’t post a one-size price. We look at your roof, then give you an exact quote after a free, no-pressure estimate.
