As the owner of Power Play I have spent years washing homes and working with a team of employees washing with me. Just like anyone in their career, we all want to be successful. I have spent more than enough hours to be considered a professional in the field.
With that said, in life, unfortunately, perfection is unattainable. So do we ever make mistakes, sure it does happen, and you will find that I am always quick to respond and address any issues.
With that said, there are a few things that come up with our House Washing service that are a bit out of our hands. This doesn’t mean I am unwilling t o discuss or try to improve the following situations, it just means that these 3 common imperfections have happened to me over the last 20 years and will continue to pop up. Let’s Review….
- Vinyl Oxidation
- Weep Hole Dripping
- Water Spots on Windows
Vinyl Oxidation is common and occurs mostly from the UV rays on sunny sides. I wrote an entire article about this because it has the most details that need to be discussed. Please see that article here…..

Weep Hole Dripping is not as common but we do se it. It is when we wash a home as we typically do. Everything goes perfectly smooth as normal and the house washes beautifully. As we wash a home we use a very low, very soft cleaning process. However, vinyl siding has weep holes built into it and some overlapping joints of course. As the home dries it can pull a little bit of dirt from out of these areas and leave some brown run out marks. It looks like we did a poor job and we hate this. But we are looking over our work thoroughly, this can happen hours and hours after we leave. The good new is, this dirt is not staining and will run right off the next time it rains. Please keep in mind that our main goal is attacking organics with house wash. And with maintenance washes, we are still treating the surfaces and making sure that we are killing mold and mildew spores whether they are showing themselves yet or not.
Water Spots on Windows is very random. We have no way to know when we are going to deal with windows spotting up after they dry out. Many customers believe this is soap residue. What we have learned over the years, is it most likely happens in areas that deal with hard water. Just like washing your car with spigot water, we are doing the same thing with your home. So just like when you rinse your car and do not dry it off, the same thing can and will happen to windows when we wash a home. Because we have had this issue come up many times, we invested 4k in what is called a pure water pole fed window cleaning system. This is where after washing your home we come around with this special pure water pumped through a brush head. Scrub and rinse the windows with this water and they come out really nice. This is huge in Europe and the main way they clean windows. It has caught on lately in the US as well. We offer this service at a much less price than you can have a window cleaner out, so many customers choose to do this along with their house washing service. We only offer window cleaning as an add on to our house washing service.
Thanks for reading over this list of common imperfections, we want all customers to know that we do not like when we run into these issues. We wish every home cleaned perfectly and we didn’t have random vinyl oxidation, weep hole run out, or spotted windows. We do everything in our power to give you the best job possible. If you have had any of these issues feel free to reach out to me!
